UPDATE 07/2026: NOW HIRING
Email Marketing Retention Strategist
Senior Exec Level (Klaviyo) – Remote
Pay: £32,000-£38,000 per year FTE
Job Description:
About the role
We're looking for an experienced Email Marketing Strategist to take ownership of strategy, performance and delivery across a portfolio of creative Shopify brands.
This isn't an account manager role (it's not a builder role either).
It's also not a role where you'll spend your days waiting for someone to tell you what to do.
You'll become the strategic lead for your clients, owning everything from lifecycle strategy and campaign planning to performance analysis and client relationships.
You'll have the freedom to make decisions, spot opportunities and influence the growth of the brands you work with.
If seeing your ideas turn into measurable results excites you, you'll probably enjoy it here. :)
What you'll own
You'll take full ownership of multiple client accounts, becoming the person our clients trust to guide their email and SMS marketing, especially in the run up to Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
Strategy & Performance
Plan monthly campaign calendars aligned with each client's goals.
Analyse campaign and flow performance to uncover opportunities.
Lead strategic audits and turn data into clear recommendations.
Test, learn and continuously improve campaigns, flows and offers.
Bring proactive ideas to clients before they ask.
Email Marketing Delivery
Build, schedule and review campaigns in Klaviyo.
Own lifecycle flows like Welcome, Browse, Cart, Checkout, Post Purchase, VIP flows and Win Back.
Develop segmentation strategies that improve engagement and revenue.
Ensure every campaign goes out correctly, on time, every time.
Quality Assurance
Review every email before it reaches the client.
Check links, logic, segmentation, personalisation and dynamic content.
Ensure product information, pricing and messaging are accurate.
Maintain an exceptionally high standard across every project.
Project Management
Manage timelines across multiple client accounts.
Brief and coordinate our copywriter, designer and Klaviyo Tech Specialist.
Keep ClickUp organised and projects moving.
Report to our Head of Client Delivery.
Client Relationships
Lead onboarding and strategy calls.
Build trusted relationships with founders.
Present recommendations clearly and confidently.
Become an extension of each client's team.
What success looks like
Within your first 60–90 days you'll:
Take full ownership of your client accounts.
Build strong relationships where clients genuinely trust your recommendations.
Deliver campaigns and flows consistently to an exceptional standard.
Spot opportunities before anyone else does.
Help improve client performance through strategic thinking, not just execution.
Who this role is for
You'll probably thrive here if you:
Have hands-on Klaviyo experience across multiple Shopify brands.
Have worked in an agency or multi-client environment.
Have owned strategy and commercial results, not just execution.
Naturally take ownership instead of waiting for instructions.
Are incredibly detail-oriented and check your own work.
Love solving problems.
Enjoy talking to founders and building relationships.
Can explain marketing in a simple way without making clients feel stupid.
Bring ideas, challenge assumptions and think commercially.
Care just as much about people as you do performance.
You're ambitious (but not "I want a fancy title" ambitious... "I want to become one of the best email strategists in ecommerce" ambitious)
This role probably isn't for you if...
You're still learning the fundamentals of email marketing.
You're primarily an email builder or implementer.
You prefer someone else to decide the strategy.
You need step-by-step instructions to complete your work.
You wait to be given tasks rather than spotting opportunities yourself.
You'd rather avoid difficult conversations than solve problems.
You think "that's not my job."
You're looking for somewhere comfortable where nothing really changes.
We're growing quickly.
That means we're constantly improving, raising the bar and trying new things.
If that excites you, you'll fit right in.
Essential experience
3-6+ years in email, CRM or lifecycle marketing.
Advanced Klaviyo experience including flows, segmentation, campaigns and QA.
Experience managing multiple ecommerce brands.
Strong commercial understanding and strategic thinking.
A proven track record of delivering measurable results.
Excellent written and verbal communication.
Bonus points if you also have:
Shopify experience
Copywriting experience
Email design experience
This probably isn't like any agency you've worked for before.
We don't do corporate or buzzwords. No pretending to be "professional." No weird hierarchy where everyone's scared to ask questions.
One minute we're deep in lifecycle strategy.
Sometimes client calls drift into parenting, ADHD, business struggles, imposter syndrome or whatever's happening in real life that day. Because that's life.
And we think work is a lot more fun when you don't have to check your personality at the door.
Our clients regularly tell us it feels like they've hired another member of their team rather than another agency. That's exactly how we like it.
Who we are
We're a boutique email marketing agency specialising in Klaviyo for Shopify brands.
Our clients are founder-led businesses in lifestyle, jewellery, kids, wellness, homeware and other creative ecommerce spaces.
Most of us have run ecommerce businesses ourselves... packing orders late into the night, worrying about Meta ad costs, juggling stock issues, cash flow and coming back from launches that didn't go to plan.
We understand what it's like to run an ecommerce business.
That's why our advice is practical, commercial and grounded in real experience.
We don't just build emails, we become part of our clients' businesses.
How we work
We trust people instead of micromanaging them.
We care more about outcomes than hours.
We celebrate wins loudly.
We own mistakes quickly.
We ask loads of questions.
We give honest, kind feedback.
We help each other constantly.
We believe the best idea wins, regardless of job title.
We are obsessed with improving.
We genuinely love getting better and we're always asking: "Can this be even better?"
Salary & Details
£32,000–£38,000 depending on experience
Fully remote (UK based)
Monday to Friday
Flexible working with core hours of 10am–3pm
How to apply
Instead of sending us a generic cover letter or a "Dear Hiring Manager" message on here, we'd much rather get to know you and how you think.
Please email hello@katiefarrell-econsultant.com with the subject line "HIRE ME".
Attach your CV, plus answer these in the body of the email:
1. Tell us a little about yourself and why this role caught your attention.
2. A new client tells you their email marketing generates around 12% of total revenue. Before suggesting any changes, what are the first five things you'd want to understand, and why?
3. A founder says, "We don't want to send more emails because we don't want to annoy our customers." How would you respond?
4. What's one thing you think most ecommerce brands get wrong about email marketing?
Applications without these answers won't be considered.
Thanks a million!
